Crowning Glory

Much like last year's fancy wedding cakes celebrating the Royal Wedding, designer crowns honoring the Queen's Diamond Jubilee are now on display in the windows of Harrods.  Queen Elizabeth II is only the second monarch to celebrate 60 years on the throne -- the first being Queen Victoria -- so this is a pretty big deal.  The crowns, and the cushions they sit on, are a bit more limited in their creativity than last year's cake display, but they are still impressive nonetheless...
De Beers (with 974 diamonds!)
Fiona Cairns cake
Escada lace
Wedgwood pottery
Demarquette chocolate
Roberto Cavalli
Valentino
Faberge
Lanvin
The Tiffany crown was disappointing. The
diamonds are just painted on.
Boucheron
Salvatore Ferragamo
The Rug Company
Roja Dove perfune
Harrods
This last crown, by Harrods, had a little motor in it so ring of royal guards in the crown spun around in a circle.  Cute, but I wouldn't want to have to wear this one!
